How we decide what fits 1 acre
A robot mower's rated area is the most lawn its maker says it can keep cut, on an open lawn. We hold it against a 1-acre lawn (4,047 m²) by the same rule on every page, including each model's own fit check:
- Rated for 1x to 3x the lawn: a comfortable fit with headroom (13 here).
- Rated for 85% to 100% of it: it fits with no headroom, fine for an open, simple lawn (6 here).
- Rated for more than 3x: it fits, but you pay for capacity you will not use (1 here).
- Rated for under 85%: it cannot keep the lawn cut, so it is left out.
Slopes, obstacles, narrow passages and separate zones all cut a mower's real capacity below its rating, so a lawn like that wants headroom: Dreame's buying guide, for one, says ratings assume a flat, rectangular lawn with no obstacles, and that trees, beds, slopes and complex boundaries can cost 20 to 30% of the figure. The order within the list weighs fit, price and stock the way our main table does. Read the methodology

Which robot mower for 1 acre works under trees?
3 of them navigate without a satellite fix, by LiDAR or camera vision, so tree cover does not interrupt them: the Dreame Roboticmower A3 AWD Pro 5000, the Mammotion Luba 3 AWD 5000 and the Dreame Roboticmower A3 AWD Pro 3500. The others use satellite RTK, which needs open sky; RTK with camera assist copes with some trees.
